The natural freshwater lake, Groenvlei, once home to hippos, provides visitors with excellent fishing, sailing and boating opportunities. This scenic lake is a haven for birds such as the Brownhooded Kingfisher and Darter. Open Land Rover nature drives and guided nature walks through the dense woodland of the indigenous Milkwood forests in the adjacent pristine Goukamma Nature and Marine Reserve can be arranged. Outstanding views of the rugged coastline and fine displays of fynbos make this a memorable experience. The reserve supports prolific birdlife and a variety of lichen, grasses and majestic Milkwood trees. Rare African Black Oystercatchers are a breathtaking site skimming over the ocean.
